A Visit to Prairie Girl Bakery
A few months after launching www.prairiegirlbakery.com it was time to head to Toronto and see the bakery in person. As I walked down King Street and turned onto Victoria I couldn’t help but smile as I saw all the colorful signs and logos. Upon entering the building I found the most beautiful bakery! There is an assortment of cupcake art, all the signage I designed, bright green walls and a wall unit full of delicious cupcakes.
The first flavour I try is the gluten free buttermilk cake with strawberry icing. All I can say is wow! The strawberry icing tastes of fresh strawberry’s and the cake is one of the most decedent GF cakes I’ve ever had. Delicious! So good in fact that I came back the next day to try another! On day two I decided to taste the “Joe Prairie” cupcake – a red velvet cake with a swirl of chocolate and vanilla bean icing. Double yum! This is the best cupcake I’ve ever had, hands down. Not too sweet but packed with flavour. I love the twist on the classic with the chocolate and vanilla frosting too.
If you are in Toronto and in the mood for something sweet, I highly recommend venturing into the financial district to try a Prairie Girl cupcake. Now I can recommend them not just because I design for them, but because they are the best cupcakes I’ve ever had. Good luck to Jean and the team! I know you will be a big success!
Here are some photos I took at the store:
